Oh, she thinks. It’s like that. This is what it’s like. Just like that, she knows, in her bones, that this is how it will be with Steve. He’ll always know her, with that stupid hair and that ridiculous uniform. He tackled a Russian agent for her. He’d put his body between her and harm, yelled at them to pay attention to him and not her, like he would never let her get hurt, not under his watch. She can handle everyone in her life leaving her as long as he stays.
Or: Robin Buckley is bad at making and keeping friends. It surprises no one more than herself that she finds a soulmate in Steve "The Hair" Harrington.
