Summary
Charlie's finally won gold in the World Figure Skating Championships. Now, all she has to do is not make a complete ass of herself in the Grand Prix and she could be on her way to the Olympics. She won't be the first Morningstar to try, either — her father, Lucifer, just barely missed out on the gold almost 20 years ago, a wound to his pride that he never got over.
But Charlie tries not to think about Lucifer. An impossible feat, really, considering they compete in the same competitions, have interviews in the same magazines, buy their costumes from the same store... The world of competitive figure skating seems awfully small when you're trying to avoid your estranged father.
Still, they're distant enough to make it even more of a shock when Lucifer asks Charlie to do something that will change her life forever: become his ice dancing partner.

Summary
Mere weeks after graduating from UC Berkeley at the top of her Class of 1951, Charlotte "Charlie" Magne is recruited for a job she didn't even know existed: Head of Radiochemistry and Physics with the Y-7 test reactor at the Lazarus Bluffs National Laboratory. Y-7, not-so-affectionately known as "Lucifer" for its troublesome habits, has been running for almost ten years, and the government has tasked Charlie — along with the rest of the team stationed there — with finding out how a nuclear reactor breaks down.
But the desolate New Mexico facility hides a much darker secret than decaying nuclear tech and an unspoken agreement that it's Lazarus Bluffs or a coffin six feet down. It turns out that the reactor isn't what's really being studied.
It's the people.
(AKA: What if Charlie was a nuclear physicist on a top-secret 1950s research reactor and Lucifer was the angel underneath the control rods?)

Summary
She should have dug her heels in deeper. Should have insisted they left him out of this and that they could do this on their own. Maybe it was the desperation from the oncoming slaughter. Maybe it was the bravery from being surrounded by friends. Maybe it was the years of distance between them that softened the memories.
Whatever way, the hopefulness she’d found in all three answers were burning down around her, and every last strip of armor was torn away.
