“You promised you’d take care of me if I ever visited Seoul.” The boy blinks while standing there and tilting his head. Jaehyun’s brows raised, his mouth ajar when the boy spoke of the same promise he said 20 years ago to what he thought was a product of a child’s wild imagination—a merman.

“Did you at least regret it?” Jaehyun blurts out while he watches him perform his duties as a doctor. “Choosing your career over me?” He gazes at him, lovingly, longingly.
“I did.” Taeyong finally says after a moment before taping the cotton on Jaehyun’s arm. “Every second of the day. I regretted it.” A bitter smile shows in his lips, eyes devoid of life as the raw memories flood back to him. “But then again,” Taeyong pushes his lips up for a smile. “...even if I were given a second, I’d still choose the same.”
Jaehyun recalls the memory of his ex-lover as he watches him achieve his dream.

So when he first starts getting mysterious notes in his locker, he doesn't think much of it. He doesn't even believe they're really meant for him. But the notes keep appearing, every day, to tell him a new way in which he's beautiful, and he starts to wonder who could be writing them. And as he gets closer to discovering the answer, maybe he starts to hope, just a little.
