“Yet they will thrive under my rule, won’t they? No more pain, no more struggle!” He slammed his fists onto the counter hard enough to rattle the table. “Only paradise. Endless faith! Eternal power!”
“Silence! Sit, Subedar!”

“You forgot to watch the time. You use that excuse every goddamn time,” Naib rolled his eyes.
“You didn’t even clean up for our date because you’re too busy on the underside of that car. Don’t you think it’s time to take a break? That damn thing’s as polished as it’s gonna get.”
“I… Naib. I’m sorry.”
Norton felt sheepish and a little humiliated. He found a little relief in Naib’s softening scowl, thankful that his partner took pity on him.
“Sorry. Relax, I got food. Put your toys back.”

Summary
A burning eye found him sneaking along in the shadows, Naib hardly dodging bursts of fire, a terrifyingly sharp pick, and a spined tail that swiped at him. Naib only sported a few wounds– far less painful than the damage he inflicted on the dragon. It still hadn’t been enough to slay Infernal Sin, but it had been more than the beast had ever endured after ascending. Naib certainly ran him for his money, cutting up his lips and leaving slices of his sword along his fragmented tail. He busted a finger that ultimately ended up reattached, but he’d finally been pinned under a molten stone that threatened to pierce through him if he even breathed too harshly.
“Say something before I kill ya.”
It took Naib a bit of thought. The dragon didn’t like that, but his words surprised a beast who thought he knew everything about man.
“Thank you,” Naib croaked, “For a good fight.”

"Special day." Naib sounded a little out of breath, too, but Norton wasn't sure if he could even breathe. Still, his voice was attractive to Norton.
"The… anniversary?" Norton croaked, sobering up. Naib leaned in to pet him again.
"Anniversary. Special day."
Before Norton could have his heartstrings tugged again, Naib kissed him with the intent for more.
