Summary
Yubin Lee is a mechanic and quasi-legal street racer. Yoohyeon Kim is a laundress and illegal book trafficker. They are best friends, and they live in the only place left in the world, probably.
Yubin doesn't care about that -- she only cares about one thing, and that's her lifelong dream of becoming a famous skimmer driver like she's watched on TV. But she's from D5, and it'll take a lot of hard work, luck, and money to even get chance. That won't stop her, though. Nothing could.
Yoohyeon, on the other hand, dreams of what might lay beyond the sands surrounding them, if anything at all. She's memorized every book she's been able to get her hands on, and she's certain there's more, but she has no idea where to start looking. One day, she'll figure it out; until then, she'll read her favorites to Yubin, even if she isn't really listening.
Everything changes when she gets arrested for a crime punishable only by death, and Yubin is forced to hide with the leader of the Black Cats to save herself from the same fate. Except Yoohyeon isn't killed; she's spared by the secretary of domestic affairs, in exchange for abandoning her old life entirely.
If only it could stay that simple.

Summary
Clancy of Dema was born to die. His purpose was determined by the knife placed into his infant hand, promised to the priests of Vialism that rule the Sacred Municipality, like all others who shelter within its walls. He does not fear purpose. Why would he? Life's kingdom is nothing but grey walls and a certainty that he will always be incomplete.
There are poems written on his bedposts. Melodies turning over in the bus engines. Choruses whispered in his footsteps. They, too, are incomplete, but they are anything but grey. The hum of wonder haunts Clancy.
And beyond the walls of Dema shines a yellow star.

Summary
Flour shifted below her, almost uncomfortably. Her lips drew apart faintly, then closed. A cornucopia of concern bloomed within the Bringer’s conscience. “I cannot take this path with you,” she quickly spat out, words atypically rushed compared to her usual demeanor.
Sugar’s face went blank, then twisted into a confused, yet exaggerated expression. “…I do believe I’m not sure what you’re saying, my dear.” she spoke, voice trembling with unease as she rose off of the Saint to look her in the eyes. She was not joking. Her now dusky irises harbored a blank, standoffish visage to them. Her lids fluttered shut.
Or,
Eternal Sugar loses another young soul she attempted to give a body, a soul she wanted to gift life to. Unfortunately for her, she could not foresee The Saint’s reaction.
