Summary
Shadow Milk looked down, his stuttered breath hitching as he gazed dazedly at the serrated blade that had impaled him.
His hands found their ways up to his wound, fingers shakily enclosing the blade. The sword was pulled back from his stomach with a wet splutter, before jam started flowing from the wound.
In the distance, he could hear the muffled sound of shouting as the battle against Dark Enchantress went on around him. On his dough, he could feel the discomfort of the grime and sweat that was layered on his skin.
Most prominently, however, he could feel his guts spilling out of the gaping hole in his abdomen. Suddenly, he found himself no longer able to breathe. Jam filled his lungs as he inhaled, a wet gurgle emitted as he choked on his own jam.
And for the first time in a while, he felt fear.

Summary
After being shot down by the manifestation of the Soul Jam of Solidarity, Shadow Milk watches the rift in time disappear before his very eyes. With it, all hope of ever restoring his crumbling body vanishes forevermore. In despair over his inevitable death, he lets the previously absorbed souls of his fellow Beasts take over his body - but there's someone else who hasn't yet given up on him. Someone who tries to ground him back in reality. Someone who wants him to live at all costs.

Summary
Pure Vanilla sets off to find Shadow Milk. His goal is to find him and bring him back with him to his castle to redeem him. He wants to help shadow milk live a peaceful life like the other beasts got too. The other ancients believe Shadow Milk is a threat and cannot be redeemed. They let Pure Vanilla try to redeem him, but how will that go?
Shadow Milk refuses, so Pure Vanilla resorts to force.

“Bluebird?” Pure Vanilla whispered softly. “Do you need me?”
Shadow Milk didn’t answer right away. He didn’t speak, didn’t move, he just stood there with his hands fisted together tightly at his sides. Then, slowly, he looked up.
Their eyes met.
Shadow Milk’s expression was carefully blank, but his eyes gave him away. Tired. Uneasy. Like he’d been awake far too long with thoughts that wouldn’t leave him alone.
That was all Pure Vanilla needed to see.
