    "I can't believe… these stupid nightmares are still happening," Aventurine bites out through gritted teeth, voice trembling with effort. The self-recrimination is heavy in his voice, and Ratio baulks to hear it. Even the critter lets out an unhappy mew, bumping its head against Aventurine's hand.

    "This is hardly your fault," Ratio answers, keeping his voice firm and low. "Such matters take time. Afflictions are not cured in a day."

    "I've taken plenty of time," Aventurine hisses, "and they're still here."

    Aventurine's nightmares continue plaguing him through the years, but Ratio (and the cat-cakes) are by his side.
