Learning Izuku had no quirk at all was a blow to all of them. Inko was worried about her reputation amongst her peers and, much more quietly because she could barely bear to admit it to herself, that this somehow meant something was wrong with her. Hisashi went into denial the second he heard that there was a .0002 percent chance that Izuku could develop a quirk despite the extra feet bones, teeth, and organs. Everything he’d spent a lifetime building crumbling with one doctor’s meeting was unacceptable.
He’d never allow it.
Izuku was only four, he was still trying to figure out what that meant, why all the adults were so upset. So he did what any four year old would do- turned to his mom for comfort and reassurance.
“But I can- I can still be a hero, right?” He asked, eyes wide and holding back tears as his favorite All Might video played on loop in his memory, competing with the doctor’s words that he’d most likely never have a quirk playing on loop. For the first time in his life, his mom didn’t answer him.
Inko just turned away, covering her mouth with one hand as her own tears began to fall. Nothing was ever the same after that day.

Izuku’s got a lot to learn a lot about family, community, and what exactly makes someone 'good' or 'bad.' This world's not all black and white after all. And when most of the people in power are worse than useless, sometimes the best you can hope for is to be better than nothing.

Kacchan slides a very familiar letter across the table to him and asks, “What the fuck is this?”
Izuku really feels like he’s about to explode.
Because that letter is possibly the culmination of the biggest feelings he’s ever had: love, and all of it for Kacchan.
Izuku wrote it at thirteen. When he knew that his best friend since diapers would never return the feelings, but Izuku felt like they were so heavy they needed to be shared.
He wrote the letter, poured his aching, crushing tween heart out onto two and a half pages of college ruled notebook paper, and addressed it in his best calligraphy. To: Kacchan. Izuku remembers his thirteen year old self debating before adding on a little explosion sticker.
Now, at seventeen, he’s debating the pros and cons of jumping out of the nearest window.
OR: Izuku writes Katsuki a love letter. 4 years later, Katsuki receives it. Izuku is still very much in love with him, and Katsuki is very much not.

Summary
Inko Midoriya, a single mother and local herbalist, gets lost in an enchanted forest. Upon stumbling to an abandoned castle, she crosses the gates to seek refuge from the pack of hungry wolves. Lush gardens and polished doors were a dead giveaway that the castle had an owner. And the owner was angry.
An eye for an eye, a son for a mother. Izuku, plain and unassuming, finds himself being at a mercy of the Beast – a brute, rabid and merciless creature, taking his mother’s place as a prisoner. Or so it seemed at first.
Katsuki was cursed, and he was furious. His castle was disrupted by uninvited stranger and her stupid, reckless son who came to the rescue. Too bad those determined, fiery eyes ended up striking a cord in his wretched heart. -

He doesn't know, but he is going to do everything he can to help people, even if it is a little less than legal and even if his secrets can ruin everything.
