Summary
A heavenly palace of paradise would be of no status without a rightful ruler to keep its’ subjects in the right mind of heart, and that was precisely Hollow’s entire world. It brought Orpheus no greater pleasure than to see his people dressed in ivories, saturated in carbon and sapphire opals, dancing and thriving amidst diamond streets.

Summary
The manor burns down. Orpheus, to the best of Norton’s, Plinius’, and Miss DeRoss’ knowledge, is caught up in it. Norton is wildly, exceedingly lucky he is not.
It’s the second or third time it’s burned down, apparently. It’s hard to keep up with what Miss DeRoss is saying, and with his head swimming from the blood loss it all kind of washes over him anyways. He leans heavily on both the women’s shoulders, barely managing to keep his feet under him. Distantly, he feels bad about it—both Plinius and Miss DeRoss are smaller than him, and he’s always weighed nearly fifteen stone even when he was starving. There’s blood dripping off of all three of them. He’s not sure what’s theirs and what’s his.
He’s also not sure why they pulled him out of the dirt. He’s not sure why they bothered. Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to just save themselves? It’s what he would have done, in their place. It’s what he thought Plinius would have done.
For Miss DeRoss, it’s hard to say.
It takes a year to pick up the pieces and start to heal.

Summary
“Oh… yes, that. I found something nicer for you to wear,” and it is almost strange how the dress is the sole item that had been spared the wrath of rain. That, Jack knew where it was, and the oddity that Philippe found in it being misplaced from where he initially packed it. “It would compliment your figure quite well.”
It isn’t long until Jack has smoothed the creases of the garment, presenting it as if it were a gift, hoisted upright in the hair in all his enthusiasm (and—for Jack, enthusiasm was a slightly larger smile than his typical one). “Will you at least let me look at you in it? Consider it…” there is a lull in the conversation, fetching words, and Philippe notes the subtleties of his demeanor. The way in which is jaw constricts and tightens as he speaks the next words. “A team-building exercise.”
Grief is a dress Philippe wears well. Jack will always be grateful to watch him model.

Summary
"Hey, I remember you," Daan suddenly chimes in, stepping up to Marcoh's side. "Yeah, you're that Bremen soldier that was on the train with us."
"So?" Pavel scoffs, his eyes shifting over to Daan. Marcoh dumbly takes his eyes off the gunman to tilt his head in Daan's direction, giving him a confused look, trying to ask why the hell he's aggravating the soldier with a gun without actually saying anything.
"No, nothing," Daan ignores Marcoh, doesn't even spare him a glance, just keeps chatting to the other man like the threat of his life isn’t in his hand. "Just never caught your name when you ran off the second the train broke down."
"I had shit to do." The soldier replies bluntly.
"Yeah, we all did, didn't we?" Daan chuckles humorlessly. “Look at us now.”
Pavel regards Daan with a curious tilt of his head, like he can't quite believe the audacity he has to fearlessly ignore the gun pointed at him and instead look the man behind it right in the eye.
