Impulse gazed down at his little passion project with such an intensity that he swore his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets. He couldn’t help the way his blood boiled whenever the thought even crossed his mind, how the water almost looked a bit red the longer he stared at it. He shook his head. It was probably just the lighting.
“I’m all for it if you need some help with the ideas or a teammate… y’know… kinda pickin’ up on what you’re puttin’ down…” Pearl said, a smirk tugging at her lips as she elbowed him playfully. “I’m there, y’know?”
Impulse looked up at her, and the sparkle in his eyes was almost comical. A squinty smile quickly made its way onto his face. “Yeah, yeah, yeah?”

You have to crane your neck to hear them—Grian has a habit of walking like he’s barely tethered to the ground, toe-first and light as a feather—but eventually, the sounds stop just outside your hiding hole, and you know you’ve been caught.
“Found you,” he says, bending down triumphantly. From your vantage point, he’s standing just in front of the sun, framed in light. You’re still young so you can’t find the words to describe the impression he leaves on you at the time, but when he’s gone, you’ll remember him as being radiant.
