    Summary

Henry’s skill at physical feats is something he is justifiably proud of. But there is something about jousting that gives him an extra jolt—call it charm, call it vitality—that makes him secrete a palpable energy. The king is young yet; it’s only natural for him to boast and strut. Thomas wouldn’t think anything of it were it not for his choice of activity when this energy sinks its teeth into him.

"And you have ruined me –you have ruined me."

    -

Thomas supposes that he has misread Henry’s intentions. His Majesty after all, did not respond well to the kiss.

It wasn’t the dismal of his position that solidified Thomas’s initial fear, it was the fury in Henry’s eyes that let him know those emotions, were indeed, misplaced.

Yet if that is true, why has the king come to him weeks after the fact?

Perhaps it is a fever dream or an inward desire, but Thomas swears it is his majesty that stands at the end of the corridor.
