    Summary

“Did I ever tell you,” Sua whispers, “the one about the girl who loved a ghost?” She brushes Mizi’s cheekbone with the backs of her fingers, water trailing in their wake. “She wasn’t dead yet, but it didn’t matter. Every time she touched the girl she loved, a little more of her disappeared.”

Mizi’s throat closes up. “Don’t—don’t say that.”

    Summary

OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR

Exercise caution. Relying on the passage of time may prove detrimental. What you fear is likely lurking right around the corner.

Do not fixate so heavily on the reflections of objects that you forget what they look like in real life. Girls. Gods. Remember: In the mirror, all directions are reversed. Even your right hand, waving rapidly as it was back then, turns into a lie.

Examples of rapidly nearing objects may include: stars, snowflakes, bullets, stage lights, blood splatters, and the shadow of your own long hair, falling down, down, down.

(Or: A Mizi character study, told entirely in road safety signage).
