“Do you want to join me?”
“What? Dipping in the ocean past midnight? No thanks, my job is tasking enough—”
“—No,” he says, low and solemn. “Join me, here, right now.”
“What? Oh—I—” She stammers, craning her neck to the big window in search of the right words, the right response.
It’s supposed to be around five in the morning, but yesterday’s forecast mentioned a chance of heavy rain, which explains the gradual appearance of dull blue-grey clouds.
“You’re not making fun of me, aren’t you?”
Rafayel pushes the curtain aside and she finds herself trapped under his intense, elegiac eyes. The colors of coral and deep-sea stare back at her. “Do I look like it?”

Summary
~ Set right after Rafayel's Ebb and Flow memory ~
“Your scales are almost gone,” you mused, almost distracted. Your thumb brushed over his smooth cheekbones, and Rafayel silently held your hand firmer against him. “Rafayel. Are you alright?”
He offered a small hum. His bravado was being taken by the receding tides of the day, it seemed, and he was scraped raw and bare for you and the moon to see. It was only when both of your palms held his face and turned it towards you that Rafayel’s gaze met yours, finally.

Summary
"Right." Shifting so that you can kiss the top of his head, you mumble, "So what I'm hearing is I should break up with you and then you'll be absolutely fine."
For a few seconds, Rafayel doesn't say anything, and you become concerned he thinks you're serious. But then he presses into you more, lips grazing against your collarbone.
"That'd be even worse."

Summary
(Previously titled ‘A Nightmarish Dream’)
You are the eyes and ears for Queen Maleficia and her fae army during the Fae-Human war. You are her right hand woman, using your abilities to help protect your home and your son.
You had seen Lilia Vanrouge fight many times on the battlefield. He was strong and powerful, sure, but he was too reckless in your eyes. It annoyed you to no end.
Newly appointed General Vanrouge had grown infatuated with you since he first saw you years ago after a particularly rough battle. While being a general wasn’t something he particularly wanted, there were quite a few reasons why he accepted. One being that he now has more opportunities to get to know you better, aside from the 2 of you throwing the occasional spell at each other.
But is the middle of a war really the best place for love to grow?
