Summary
Thanatos is inexperienced, a moth-winged youth barely capable of standing on the ground, let alone fighting. Yet he is jealous of his half-brother and best friend Zagreus, who has begun to train with the legendary Achilles. So he is delighted when Mother Nyx arranges for Thanatos to have similar instruction, and from Ares, the god of war himself. But it's not Ares' skill at arms that turns out to interest Thanatos the most, it's the way he looks, the way he moves, and the way he praises Thanatos as no one before has ever done. It isn't long before Thanatos' crush on his mentor borders on obsession. But he knows that the more experienced, stronger, and in all ways better god can't possibly be interested in him.
