Natalie is silent for a moment, digesting Lottie’s words with heavy consideration. It’s as if she’s chewing them, distinguishing the tendons of the sentence, the palette of the phrases. The thumb beneath Lottie’s shirt never stops moving.
“Do you want me to help you?” Nat asks, her voice low. It’s huskier than before, and Lottie opens her eyes and pulls back slightly, scanning Natalie’s face. Her irises are darker.
“And how would you do that?”
“You just need to let go for a while,” Natalie murmurs against Lottie’s lips, swollen with love and shining beneath the hazy ceiling light. “You just need to not be in control anymore. Do you want someone else to be in control, Lottie?”
