“Tell me… did the idea of doing a series with me really horrify you that much? Not necessarily a BL.”
Nani lowered his gaze. He took a moment. Then another. The words came slowly. “That’s not the point” he said. “It’s just that… even back then, people always compared us. You were brilliant. People loved you. Always. Effortlessly. And me… I always felt like I was chasing.”
Sky paused, watching him, but didn’t interrupt.
"The competition” Nani continued, “was never between you and me. Not for me, at least. It was always between me… and the people watching. Who kept choosing you. Because you were more sociable. More open. Because you were Sky.”
Sky sighed, then said:“Did you never realize that… while you were running to get ahead of me, I was running to catch up to you?”
Nani said nothing. But his heart, that started running. For reasons of its own.
---Simply Sky and Nani in my favorite trope, kindly offered by "we best love": enemies to lovers, "I defy you in everything, so that at least you notice me", but not so much enemies because actually one has a crush on the other practically from the geological era but he chose the wrong way to let him know.
