It had been a stormy night when Mano made her decision. The ceremony was days away, and preparations were happening. Bernadette was to be the centerpiece, the “willing” sacrifice. She had been told it was her divine duty to bring glory to the cult’s cause. Bernadette believed them. She believed in everything they said. She trusted them.
But Mano saw the lies, the deceit beneath their words. They wanted power, not salvation, and they would use Bernadette’s innocent faith to achieve it.
So Mano acted.

Summary
Shuriken, due to the nature of his job, was quite proficient in hiding bruises. Did it involve some makeup that he had to steal from his sister? Yes, it did. But the Silver Shadow, vigilante of Thieves’ Den, couldn’t risk becoming plant fertilizer.
He wasn’t any sort of makeup expert (unless his arm design counted), and he’d had to search up how to hide bruises on incognito mode on his crappy laptop when he’d first become a vigilante. But now he could effectively hide his bruises without a second glance.
The issue? He was out of concealer.
And so, the Silver Shadow, the professional, the master of disguise, was going to a makeup store to find himself some concealer. (Not that boys couldn’t wear makeup. Shuriken is very supportive of everyone and how they choose to express themselves, you know. What kind of vigilante would he be?)

Azure was supposed to be dead.
Elder Amarah’s orders were very clear. Two Time was to kill Azure with the ghostfire dagger, and the Spawn would bless them with the gift they were born to receive. The gift of a second life.
But they couldn't do it. Watching Azure surrounded by those beautiful nightshades… Back turned to them, oblivious as ever…
They could never hurt him.
The two of them run away together. To the outside world that Two Time has been told is horrible and cruel and full of evil people.
I’m sorry I have failed you, Spawn. Please, forgive me.
Two Time can only hope they made the right choice.

Summary
If Two Time could line up every inch of their grief, not even the length of that regret could begin to stitch back together the remains of their heart. At times even the swaddle of their faith could not contain that pain, but to verbally denounce that decision would be to turn their back on the faith that led them down that path in the first place.
Was it all still worth it?
Azure is saying something, but Two Time cannot understand. They understand though, that they were wrong for what they did; they knew this from the instant that horrid dagger had sunk into his chest.

Two Time respawns, this time a year in the past in a commune where they don't quite fit in anymore. Their relationship with Azure is tainted by memories of another version of him, and being caught between a choice of repeating the past or changing the future isn't making anything better. Questions of their faith and self-worth begin to emerge. How will they make it out unscathed?
