“Now’s your cue, De,” Trianne whispers at him from in between her tiny hands, like it wasn't damn obvious his fate was sealed the moment they all looked at him.
“Splendid idea. Leave it to the homicidal maniac to be his caretaker; what could possibly go wrong?”
Alternatively: A cursed Phainon can't speak, see or hear. Mydei is tasked with taking care of him until everything's sorted out.

Summary
He noticed Lighter had constantly been doing this "thing" after a recent bangboo-retrieval commission. Like always, after the obligatory "thank you" and "don't worry about it" routine, he would lower his head ever so slightly and finish with a blink-or-you'll-miss-it flash of longing— like he was still anticipating something, only to be crushed with feeling ridiculous for still expecting it. It was all minor, yes, but Wise caught it every single time.
Was it presumptuous of Wise to want to take this much of a leap and do something about it? He'd overstepping his boundaries, socially and physically, but he couldn't help it. It was an instinct, really— his second nature as an older sibling telling him someone was in need of attention. Lighter may not have said anything and— knowing him— he likely never would, but Wise felt as though he could put the pieces together rather easily and figure what it was he was missing.
Wise notices touch-starved tendencies in Lighter and decides to do something about it.

And maybe he was too exhausted to think properly. Or his brain was too hazy from being rudely roused awake from a half-sleeping state. Or maybe he’s just so damn tired of Lighter running away that he didn’t waste any time to swing his leg over and straddle the man.
Below him, Lighter went deathly still.
Took every escape route out of the man, and they would have no choice but to stay.
“Now, Lighter,” Wise began with a smile. “Do you think I haven’t noticed all those occasions you hugged me was only when I’m synced with Eous?”
Lighter’s hands on his waist twitched. Wise hoped he’s not going to throw him on reflex and dash away despite the locked door.
He didn't want to resort to the ropes he hid underneath his bed.
“So, why do you refuse to hug me directly?”
[Or: Lighter keeps hugging (read: be as physically close as possible) Wise when he’s in Eous form but can’t seem to do so in person.]
