But sometimes, it hits him out of nowhere -- at work, cracking jokes to make the kids laugh as he checks up on them. Teasing his colleagues just to see them crack a smile after the most draining of days. In the car on the way home, Lan Zhan turning the heater up right next to him. Dinner; spooning hot and sour soup into his lover’s bowl. Thank god, I stayed.
(It goes like this:
At 2am, in the dark -- “Even then?”
Lan Zhan’s eyes had fluttered open, softly.
“Of course, Wei Ying,” Lan Zhan’d murmured like there was nothing to hesitate about, golden eyes flickering across his face in the dark. Voice thick and quiet; surface tension and warm water. “I love you all the time.”)

“When Hanguang-Jun loves someone,” Sizhui tries again, voice held steady. “He does it -- with everything he has. And I -- Sizhui apologises for meddling; I will serve my punishment when it’s due, but……” the tremble in his exhale betrays the mask of calmness he’d managed to find, one reminiscent of Lan Zhan’s own. “Wei-Qianbei. Hanguang-Jun loves you so, so much.”

His eyelids are drooping again, though he speaks, voice only a little louder than a mumble, "hey, you might be the prettiest person I've ever seen."
Then he startles, as if having thought of something. Eyes widening, mouth now gaping a little like a fish, he asks -- "Are you a model?"
OR Yoongi isn't much of a talker. Now though, he's loopy on anaesthesia, and the stranger at his bedside just needs to know how beautiful he is.
