Summary
It all started with those notebooks.
How was Grace supposed to know that he'd be starting to mingle his life with that of his neighbor across the hall in the dorms from a mixed up package? The real cute guy, in fact?
Simon didn't think he'd get this interested in a man when he was angry. He kind of liked it. And the rest of him too wasn't all that bad either.
This is a collab work yay! Grace POV chapters will be brought to you by Bela_Dimitrescu , Simon POV chapters are done by roady__atiny !! 3rd person!!

Summary
Ryland looked down at his clipboard, where he had written a reasonable script, supplied earlier that day by Adrian. Unfortunately, the moment his eyes landed on the words, his brain supplied only terrible ways to say them.
He chose the worst one.
“I need flowers with prominent reproductive structures.”
The man went completely still.
Ryland could feel his soul attempting to leave his body.
“For a plant anatomy lab,” he added quickly. “For my students. Middle school students. Not–” He cut himself off, because there was simply no end to that sentence that would improve his situation. Instead, he just weakly smiled, and added “Science.”
-:-:-
Ryland Grace is brilliant with biology, awkward with adults, and far too invested in giving his students the lessons they deserve. Simon Fleischer is a guarded florist who trusts plants more than people and has no interest in being needed by anyone again. But when a forgotten school lab brings Ryland into Root & Thorn, their lives begin to tangle in quiet, unexpected ways – through flowers, roots, and the terrifying possibility of being cared for properly.

Summary
“What?” Ryland asks, smoke flowing past his lips and filling the space between them.
“You good?” he asks.
“Fine.”
There’s a beat of silence. He still hasn’t taken the joint, so Ryland brings it back to his lips and has another slow drag before leaning closer into the other man’s space and blowing the smoke in his face. Ryland watches him as he flushes red, fingers twitching at his sides, eyes darting across Ryland’s face.
“If you’re not careful, I’ll smoke this whole thing,” Ryland threatens.
“You can.” Ryland raises an eyebrow at him. “I mean, I’ll just roll another.” He pauses. “We’d have to go back to my room, though. I only grabbed one wrapper.”
Ryland smiles at the implication.
---
Ryland Grace meets Tom Ryder at a party, though neither of them fully recalls the interaction. Now, since Tom is in Colt's group for the semester, they have to deal with the tension they feel in a healthy, adult way. Which obviously results in fucking whenever they can get their hands on one another.

Summary
Somehow, in some twisted, unbelievable turn of events, the fate of the entire planet, billions upon billions of people, had fallen on Ryland Grace's shoulders. It was a burden he wasn't fit to carry. A burden that he could feel in all its massiveness weighing down on his chest, squeezing his lungs until all he could eke out of them where wheezing, barely-there breaths.
He pressed his forehead harder against his knees and curled his fingers tight around some of the fabric of his pants, his knuckles turning white. He couldn't—this wasn't how it was supposed to—
His life—his kids—
Simon.
Or Ryland Grace is a middle school teacher turned lead astrophage scientist. Simon Fischer is a convict turned engineering specialist. Surely absolutely nothing could go wrong on a cosmic scale because neither of them are astronauts.
