Buck knows he’s fucked up.
Goddamn, this is so fucked up. But he can’t stop.
Self-hatred is a familiar bile rising in his throat. It spills up and over and passes his teeth and lips to erase the love he’s been swallowing from everyone’s leftovers. The love he’s tried so many times to steal and recreate and claw at with you're too much, Evan burned into the skin under his fingernails
He barely makes it to the bathroom before he’s puking in the toilet, struggling to get down without hitting his head. His knee burns.
Would it be better if he lost his leg? Would it be better if he didn’t have as much of a leg to feel pain in? Would it be better for everyone if the blood thinners took him out in the backyard? Would it be better if the 3 minutes and 17 seconds stretched into forever so he wouldn’t be haunted by the phantom of his dead heart? Would it be better if he was shot?

Buck will never be able to erase his pain—physical, emotional, and otherwise. For the most part, he’s lived with it. Tolerated the aches of his heart and limbs. But there are people who notice and refuse to let him deal with it on his own. Buck just has to believe he deserves to be helped.

Summary
There's a feeling that happens sometimes, when you're on a call and everything settles within itself. The air stills, dust particles pause mid air, and the hair on your arms stands on end.
All right before something goes horribly wrong.
Many things happen in quick succession.
Firstly, a series of loud car horns can be heard from below.
Second, a large crack forms itself on the surface of the bridge.
Third, chaos follows.
The ground itself shakes beneath Buck's boots, splits itself apart, and falls.
