It was probably wrong to think Steven looked good like this. It may even be insulting to him, but Jake couldn’t find it in himself to feel bad. Steven looked pathetic; sweating and flushed with his brows furrowed in discomfort and his eyes hooded in exhaustion.

Steven feels himself flush at the words. This is so touching; It must’ve been for someone else and was just delivered here by accident. He’s certainly never received something like this before.
He flips the card and blinks when he sees his address and name printed there… but with no return address or name- no indication of who could have possibly sent it to him. He glances down the hall to his left and then to his right; not a soul in sight. Maybe it was Mum? No, she usually only sent postcards. A cake, once or twice on his birthdays but not flowers- and she always made sure to sign her name on the post.
