“Good luck,” Wolfwood mumbles, sticking a cigarette between his teeth and lighting it.
Vash’s eyes stay open just long enough to watch the tendons and veins in Wolfwood’s right hand flex under his warm brown skin as he manipulates the lighter, mesmerized by their movement, and the last thing he thinks of before succumbing to sleep is that he’d like to feel those tendons and veins under his fingertips. He isn’t totally sure how long he’s out, but he knows that he feels more comfortable than usual once he wakes up.

Something's been bugging him, for the last month or so he's had of lectures, seeing this guy, falling so hard it felt like getting hit by a bus. In between all the weird talk about historiography and the shaping of the past and ascribing meaning to little dregs of things and how really, what is seen as historical is really the time and pieces of the past that have been assigned meaning by humanity, Nicholas has been thoroughly distracted ever since he looked across the room and saw that soft smile, like the guy was always seeing the world for the first time, falling in love with it in every moment.
Alternatively, Nicholas contemplates the history of breastfeeding.
