Summary
A collection of moments from throughout Kiryu and Nishiki's lives and relationship.
It was instinct. The other guy had gotten Kiryu on the ground, on his back, and he got scared. Nishiki was far outside his periphery and they were outnumbered two to four, and now he was trapped. He ate a few clumsy blows to the head, unable to block with his right arm wedged underneath him and left arm up and out at an awkward angle. He flexed his fingers in the dirt, slapping at the ground and searching for anything he could grab. He wanted a rock. Something he could bring down hard against this guy's temple and knock him off kilter. What he got was the hilt of a kitchen knife.

Summary
Stars glittered in front of his eyes. The rush and thud of his heart was overwhelming, thrumming in a way that he had never felt before. Fighting Majima was unlike any other fight he’d ever been in. And Saejima had fought a lot. Unlike the men that challenged him, there was no fear or disgust in Majima’s eyes, no trepidation or doubt. Just the pure excitement of someone who had found an equal.

“Ya woulda made a damn good dad,” Saejima says. His voice is warm and firm. Stating a simple, lovely fact. But Majima reacts to the compliment like he’s been hit.
