Vi held on to Caitlyn as she screamed and then collapsed, sobs wracking her body. She tried to slowly lower Cait to the ground as the other woman crumbled, folding in on herself, body shaking. Vi's strong arms encircled her as she tried to offer what limited comfort she could when someone's entire world has literally just exploded into flaming wreckage. She pulled Caitlyn as close to her as possible, her shirt growing damp from the devastation that flowed from Cait's eyes. Vi held her tight, tucking the other woman's head underneath her cheek, and selfishly let a few of her own tears fall.

She almost doesn’t hear the actual answer. “And though I have no doubt a thousand people have given this answer before, I did nothing. I was doing my job, and then I was here. No trial. No sentencing. No crime to speak of.”
