    Summary

Zuko had never excelled at anything. Azula was a prodigy. Uncle always knew what to say. And Father... Father was strong, iron-like. But Zuko had only ever been good at surviving. Putting one foot in front of the other in a grim show of stubborn determination, gritting his teeth and bearing it. Survival was all he had ever been taught. He knew how to do it. So when he was kidnapped by the Southern Water Tribe, he expected to fight as he always had. He didn’t expect to be taught instead how to live.

In a warring land, the Water Tribe forgave the enemy in an act of defiance. For this, he was torn from them, and this time, his wounds won't heal so easily.

Forced back into nothing but survival, the last person Zuko expected to see was Hakoda's son. Hakoda was a promise of safety. The relentless blue of Sokka’s eyes was a promise of happiness. Zuko could have both if he just reached out his hands, but he found them clutching into fists. After all, he’d been burned one too many times.

But hey, at least between Hakoda and Sokka, Zuko could appreciate the family resemblance of pure, asinine stubbornness.

    Summary

People refuse to believe Voldemort’s back, even though Harry seems to be living proof of it, with Cedric’s death, and his loss of hearing. Why won’t anyone believe him, though?

Draco doesn’t buy it - and he’s trying to catch him in the act to make a fool of Harry. Breaking his things, shouting his name, learning sign language to make fun of him - you name it. But suddenly, Draco's put in a position where he needs to learn sign language. And when the bloody Chosen One is the only one who knows it, you have to take what you can get.

Despite their differences, they both have one thing in common now.

    Summary

“Outside the still smoking cottage in Godric’s Hollow, Sirius and Remus could hear the soul splitting cries of the last untainted part of their family. Harry was untouched by war or the vicious hunt that had kept the four near-brothers apart.

    Or, Harry had been.

Surrounded by the rubble that very nearly buried his deceased parents, neither wizard could claim the infant was unaffected by the darkness any longer. Harry was a part of it now and it had reached him so young that it would always be a part of him.”

On October 31st, 1981, the Marauders fell.

On November 1st, 1981, the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black was forced to rise.

(Featuring a young professor Remus and an unwilling politician Sirius leading a family and raising their godson in a post-Voldemort’s-defeat wizarding world.)

    Summary

“I told him you could help.” Christopher says with such confidence that Eddie’s heart jumps into his throat. Because to Eddie, this isn’t a fight he can win. “Please help him.”

“Christopher.” Eddie whispers and looks back down at the likely dying wild animal his son brought home.

“Please?” Christopher’s eyes are wide and wet and looking at him with such hope.

What can Eddie do? Say no? Of course not. “I’ll try, but Mijo, it looks pretty hurt.”

“You can save him.” Christopher insists. “I know you can.”

    __

Or: Christopher saves a fox on a field trip that ends up not being a fox after all.
