“Good night, Mike,” he hummed, softly. There was something satisfying about the way he said my name. I liked the way it sounded. All of the trepidation we both felt only minutes earlier seemed to have been forgotten– pushed back into the recesses of our minds by the covenant that we would talk to each other again. Or maybe that was just how I felt. “Good night, Will,” I offered. Maybe it was the mystery of it all– the promise of adventure and intrigue. Maybe it was my curiosity about Will. Whatever it was, it was potent. Almost addictive. And I was already starting to suffer from withdrawal.
----------------The Wheeler family moves to Hawkins, Indiana in the fall of 2017. Mike Wheeler hates everything about his new life. He just wants things to go back to the way they were. Until he finds an old rotary phone in the attic of his new house.
When the phone rings out of the blue one night, Mike is wholly unprepared for the dramatic turn his life is about to take.

“I know, I heard you” Will teased. Taking a sharp breath.
“I heard you too” Mike added, words muffled into his skin. Will let out a breathy laugh, and Mike shortly joined with a pleased sigh.
“Mike?” Will questioned, his head tilting up a touch.
“Next time, you should just come in here”
Mike and Will move into their small college apartment, and the lack of privacy stirs up a lot of unresolved feelings and hormones.

"You're asking me that, and I'm the one being weird? Oh my god, Mike," Will said, throwing his head back at the absurdity of the situation and heading toward his bedroom.
Mike's hands flexed against his sides before shooting up and following Will, making him stop in his tracks at the doorway of his bedroom.
"And are you? Fucking him?" Mike said, his voice low and his breathing shallow. His eyes found Will's hazel ones before they wandered down to his pink lips that Mike knew oh so well.
Will kept his eyes level with Mike's as if challenging his gaze. "That's none of your business," Will said simply, like that was that and there was nothing more to it, like there was nothing Mike could do about it.
What a load of shit.
Mike and Will are college roommates and have been friends with benefits since the summer before their sophomore year of college. Mike is totally normal about all of it, until he notices that Will starts using their phone every other day to talk to some douche named Carlton.
