Alicent continued to chew her lip as she looked at her, but Rhaenyra held her gaze, unblinking. She could almost see the calculations Alicent was doing, the risk she was weighing against her curiosity. Rhaenyra remembered back to the tomb Criston had discovered them in, to the weighing of the heart ceremony depicted on the wall there. A man standing by a large set of scales as they weighed his heart against a feather to measure if he was truthful and good.
Now Alicent weighed hers.
The only thing keeping Rhaenyra Targaryen out of prison is Alicent Hightower's curiosity.

We speak only good of the dead, but most of us will never be close to saintly, regardless of the edges being smoothed on the stories we leave.
I will not paint her with wings just because the wounds are still healing. It would be a disservice to her.

As she completes her victory circuit to the loud roar of the crowd, Rheanyra keeps her gaze locked with Alicent, violet eyes bright with triumph and something else she hesitates to name. Rhaenyra doesn’t think it’s necessarily polite to swing through the open window of their ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the middle of the night just to bleed all over her couch, but it’s certainly better than the alternative. That said, when Alicent discovers them, she might just decide to finish what the explosion started, so Rhaenyra’s fate is still yet to be determined.
