You come down the next morning to the fishing shack in the village to find the detective bathing in the sea.
“Detective,” you say. “I’m pleased to note you availing yourself of the facilities.”
“Kim, it’s fucking freezing,” he says, seriously. His hair hangs wet and limp, darker like this, and his chops draggle down his face. He looks like a half-drowned dog you had once seen Eyes pull out of L’Esperance.

Harry has a rough night. Kim comes by in the morning. Maybe they’ll get pancakes later, but for now, there’s hand-holding and the radio to get them through.
SHIVERS: A man in an orange jacket descends the steps to your basement apartment, stepping into gloom. He knocks firmly, then takes a half-step back, hands behind his back.
HALF LIGHT: If you stay very still, he won’t know you’re here.
PERCEPTION: The radio plays, soft and low.
SHIVERS: The man shifts and looks at the closed door. He can hear something faint - the radio, maybe. No sign of movement.
LOGIC: Maybe he’s gone out, Kim thinks, and half-turns to look behind him at the street, as if he might see you there.
COMPOSURE: He can’t see us like this. He’ll be so disappointed…
