" Before he had time to talk himself out of it Barry raised his hand and opened the door peering in. Seeing them snuggled up and snoring lightly almost made Barry turn tail and leave, the only thing stopping him was Mick sitting up rubbing his hand down his face and turning to the door, squinting at Barry. Len was a really deep sleeper despite what people might think, he was however easy to awaken if his sister (or any of his loved ones, which he’d deny to his dying day) was upset so Len didn’t even stir at the sound of the door creaking as it opened, but Mick on the other hand, slept pretty lightly, so the door stirred him enough to rouse him.
“Waz ‘oing on?” Micks voice with sleep coating it like a thick layer of dust was not helping Barry’s crush. "
Looking for comfort after a nightmare on a school trip Barry goes to his crushes.

Summary
Tony is practically an expert on nightmares. He has been dealing with them for a long time now and has had time to control his reactions to them. This didn't extend to the other Avengers though, who had their own specific horrors that trapped them in their sleep. It was a natural decision for Tony to be the one to see them through such times. If only he made sure that they knew about this too, because sometimes taking care of your family could mean damaging yourself. In the end, it falls on the team to see through this and hope to bring Tony out of his own horrors.

It wasn't like Tony had set out to mother the Avengers.
No, it wasn't like that at all, but it had surely ended in that fashion. Someway, somehow, his life had turned from depressive workaholic, alcoholic, everything-that-was-especially-harmful-holic to packing paper brown bag lunches and personally sending out clothes to the cleaners.
Personally - he hadn't even sent his own laundry out pre-Avengers.
He had just become the proud owner of five superheroes; they hadn't even come with care kits or manuals or blueprints.
Tony couldn't breathe.
