And okay, he hadn’t explicitly said thank you to Bucky for the shield, for the suit, for coming to his aid for the heavy-duty moments. If he’s honest with himself, he’s not sure he thanked Bucky for fixing the shed. Maybe it’s a pride thing. Half the time Bucky doesn’t even give him the opportunity to with that self-satisfied you’re welcome and sidelong smirk. And like hell is Sam going to give him the satisfaction of saying thank you first.
Sam notices a strange reaction in Bucky now every time someone thanks him. And he wants some of that for himself. Completely inspired by that scene in Episode 6.

Sam gives him a sidelong glance with raised eyebrows, plucking a piece of sushi in his mouth chewing it…slowly. “What should I call you, then?”
And Bucky falters as he lifts the bottle to his lips, feeling his throat dry up. The hubub around them seems to quieten to a low hum in Bucky’s ears as if waiting his response. What should Sam call him? He's had many names over the years. None of them belong to Sam exclusively. Not for what they now have. Whatever this undefined relationship is.
Everything feels off kilter again and his left arm tightens around the bottle.
