“My Rose.” Bill pulled a creased photograph from his breast pocket. The photo was an old one, taken in the summer of 1936 at a picnic in one of their gardens when the two of them had just left school. He hadn’t joined the Gordons yet, and she hadn’t gone to university. They were just two fresh-faced children, sitting side-by-side in the sunshine.

Summary
Frankie Bates was fed up, completely and utterly fed up. Why was it that men were allowed to go to war? To risk life and limb for their country, and yet women weren't allowed to. Yes, women were still invaluable to the war effort, but by god, was it unfair. She wanted to be out in the thick of it, doing what she could for her country.
So one morning, sick to the teeth of it, Frances decided to do something about it, which had somehow led to her being out in the African desert babysitting the SAS, especially a certain blond-haired psychopath.

Summary
Growing up with David Sterling, Rosie quickly developed a desire to help people.
All the times she had seen him battered and bruised had just reaffirmed to her that she wanted to help people. That she wanted to be a nurse. So when the war had broken out, Rosie had signed up, helping as many people as she could, then David went and got himself injured, and well, Rose had no choice but to go to Ciro.
Then, the next thing she knew, he was setting up his new regiment, and well. Where David Stirling goes Rosie Abernathy is sure to follow.

"Your bedside manner is terrible." He laughed but followed her instructions all the same.
"Well luckily that's not what they pay me for." Evie replied.
"What do they-"
"Sergeant Le Page!" Mike's voice cut him off. "Get that poor boy off the floor and into the shade."
Evie sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Well right now they're paying me to get you off your arse." She stuck out her hand to him. He took it and pulled himself up. "I'm Evie by the way."
"Johnny." He said looking at her slightly baffled.

After studying under Ralph Alger Bagnold, the creator of the Long Range Dessert Group, Evelyn le Page was invited to join up. She grabbed the opportunity with both hands and spent a year with the regiment. Evie was happy but never quite felt like it was enough for her, until one day she's sent to rescue a strange new regiment: the SAS.
