Faintly, through the muffled haze of awakening, he hears beeping and nimble fingers typing across a computer keyboard, a counter-metronome of sterile, artificial sounds. Feels the soft light of the sun across his neck from a window on the right. Smells antiseptic.
Hospital, maybe.
