A lot, apparently. What happens afterwards causes Pen to rethink everything he’s ever thought about their friendship and himself.
This is a remake of my first fic!! Mainly because looking back I really don’t like the pacing and honestly im uh. MUCH better at writing now

No one chose to end up here, inescapably tied to the others through the whims of the Strange. Every Exitor was simultaneously the most alone and the most accompanied that they had ever been, and if any of them managed to claw their way out it would be as a tangled husk of what they started as. No word could describe the relationship they had, but there was something good, wasn’t there?
The Exitors fought and loathed and cried and held each other for dear life, because while they weren’t family or allies or even friends they were the best they were going to get in this place. They were people, all of them, and they would remind each other that there was a world outside of this classroom out there, just waiting for them to return.

Maybe it was just easier not to feel back then.
Maybe it was easier, after losing everything, to choose to put up those walls and focus on beating everyone else to feel better about herself.
Pin and Coiny say they've "moved on" from their rocky past. But deep down, Pin worries that Coiny still thinks her BFDIA self is who she really is. Even she struggles to separate herself from the mask she used to wear.
After a nerve-wracking nightmare, a late-night conversation with Coiny confirms Pin's worst fears, and she realizes the only way forward is to tell him the truth behind her actions. Not to defend her past self, but to help Coiny understand her. All of her.
