Summary
He can see Greez’s face out of the corner of his eye, so he gets to witness the journey his friend’s expression takes. Surprise, like Greez is understanding for the first time that yes, Cal does pick up such things once in a while, followed by a sort of resigned surprise as he realizes he probably should’ve figured that out sooner. Amusement, very hastily smothered because he promised not to laugh. Just a fraction of a second of envy, which, okay, Cal will give him; it’s cheaper than paying for low-quality skin flicks.
And then the lightbulb turns on. Cal goes back to staring out the viewport so he doesn't have to see the horror.

Summary
Order 66 goes out. The clone troopers execute their Generals. Jaro Tapal dies in an escape pod and Cal lands on Bracca alone, one of the few surviving Jedi in a galaxy that suddenly wants him dead. Under those circumstances, all he can do is blend in with the scrappers, keep his head down and his eyes open, and try to trust in a Force he can no longer connect with. He shuts his mouth so he never says anything suspicious and then decides perhaps it’s best if he just doesn’t talk at all.
After five years, he’s pretty sure he’s forgotten how.

For a brief moment, there was calm while Cere regained her bearings. She was lying on the floor in the common area, the blue of hyperspace flashing through the viewports above. They’d done it. They’d escaped the fortress and the Sith Lord, and as far as she knew Cal still had the holocron.
“Cal,” she croaked, her voice sounding like gravel in her throat.
“He’s... he’s here too,” Greez said, a distinct shakiness to his voice. In the background she could hear Merrin chanting, though the words remained indecipherable. She sounded desperate, an edge of fear clinging to the words.
She couldn’t hear Cal.
