Summary
For the last several days, nearly a week, everytime they see each other, Steve seems like he’s dancing around something. Always seems like he’s about to say what he wants to say, then changes his mind mid-sentence and says something else, and Eddie is over it. If it’s bad news, he'd rather just hear it than keep watching Steve mentally argue with himself till smoke comes out of his ears.
or
Steve's girlfriend wants to have a threesome, and Eddie offers to be their third.

Summary
“I could help with that.”
It takes him a minute to realize that he said anything at all as Steve gives him a bizarre look.
They blink at each other for a long, long time while Eddie's brain catches up with his ears, which are catching up with his mouth.
“Now… what do you mean by that?” Steve asks, crossing his arms over his chest.
Eddie doesn't have an answer, because even though he knows exactly what he meant by that, he does not know what possessed him to actually fucking say it. So he stays silent, choosing instead to stare owlishly at Steve, trying to communicate with him via telepathy.
I'm offering to take the edge off. I'm offering to beat your meat. To crank your hog. Be normal about it because I can't be.
or
Steve and Eddie strike up a mutually beneficial, casual relationship, but Eddie is incapable about being casual about anything.

Summary
He can't tell you why, truly. His brain is moving a million miles and hour, he's panicking, he feels out of fucking control in his panic. He’s full blown pissing his pants, and all he can think to do is sit down on the toilet. He doesn't pull his pants down, doesn't lift the closed lid.

Summary
Eddie tries to focus on keeping himself under control, but now Steve's biting his lip and brushing his opposite hand down Eddie's cheek and jaw, and coming to rest at the base of his throat. Not squeezing or anything, just resting there, and what’s Eddie trying to focus on again? Oh yeah – not coming in his pants like a complete loser.

Summary
With twenty-three years of life and zero years of dating experience under his belt, Eddie decides that he doesn't want to spend another Valentine's Day alone. He's determined to find a date for the upcoming holiday, capitalist bullshit be damned. The problem with having not dating experience, though, is having no idea what the hell he's doing or how to get a date. Steve, on the other hand, is practically a professional, and decides to do his duty as Eddie's best friend and roommate: give him some on-the-job experience. However, with each passing date, Eddie realizes that Valentine's Day is the least of his concern, and getting through these practice dates while keeping his feelings in check is the real challenge.
or
Five times Eddie takes Steve on a fake date, and one time Steve takes Eddie on a real one.

“Dating?” Eddie scoffs. “You want me to date him?”
“Okay, rude,” Steve mutters. “But also…yeah, wait, what the hell?”

Summary
Steve has nightmares like this. Eddie hurt. Eddie pale. Eddie with blood around his mouth. Still like a dead body in hospital sheets. He has nightmares like this, but this isn’t a nightmare. It’s December 1992 and the person on the phone said critical condition.
Steve hasn’t spoken to Eddie since 1986, but the nurse on the phone called him, said come.
So he drove. Said he was his brother, of course, definitely. He signed some sort of form and put down his credit card because Eddie’s got no insurance and the man at the desk had suggested he wasn’t letting Steve back there without one. He’s not sure that’s legal. He’s going to look into it, but not now. Not when he has nightmares like this.

Summary
It's been two years since the Nice Guys detective agency was founded, and somehow, March and Healy have ended up taking a case involving missing and murdered patrons of an LA gay bar. Their leads have gotten them nowhere, though, so March proposes something stupid: use him as bait to draw the murderer out, let him think he's roofied March to hell and back, Jackson jumps him in the alley outside the bar, and bam. Problem solved.
Of course, it's never actually that simple, is it? Especially when March has been keeping a secret from Healy for the past two years, one that could get him locked away or killed and Holly torn away from him forever. Especially when he hasn't gotten any better at dealing with the shitshow that has become his life. Especially when he actually gets roofied and things go very, very wrong.
Or maybe it is that simple. Because Jackson Healy is always there, whether March wants him to be or not.
And god, does he want him to be.

Summary
The exit March had his gleaming eye on was two lanes over, and far too close to be reasonable in any world. If they were pushing 70, like they were supposed to be, it would have already been in the rearview.
Healy blinked down at him.
“You want me to cross two lanes of standstill traffic halfway through a job to-” Healy saw the car in front of him lurch forward a few inches, and let his voice drop. “To get you a snow cone?”
──
Jackson Healy is a very accomodating man, but like any man, he had his limits. Well, he liked to think of himself that way, anyways.
