Summary
As clarity returns to his vision, Obi-Wan realises what's saved him.
The onslaught hasn't stopped after all. It's being blocked from him. A figure stands in front of him, tall and robed and bearing a lightsaber that blazes blue as it absorbs the crackling lightning.
And beyond the perception of sight, Anakin has unleashed himself in the Force.
(Anakin Skywalker stands in the office of Chancellor Palpatine and makes a choice. It's an old story. But he isn't alone, and the Dark Side hasn't won yet.)

Summary
When Merrick sends his message demanding Modina and Saldur in exchange for Gwen, Royce tells Hadrian to stay behind.
Hadrian follows him to Colnora anyway. And it's just as well, because in doing so he saves Gwen's life.
Somehow it's after this that things get complicated.

Summary
Jaskier goes through the portal at Tor Lara with Ciri, so he's with her when she gets stranded in the desert and for what comes after. He might never have been destined to be her family, but the choices they make to save each other change Ciri's path forever.
Unfortunately, it also means the people he left behind have every reason to believe he's dead.

Summary
"I can't promise you that I'll survive this," Geralt says.
Jaskier closes his eyes, but he nods. "I know. I'm not asking... I know you'll do anything to save her. I would too."
Don't say that. Don't make me pay for my child's life with yours.
It would be the most selfish thing in the world to say, the most hypocritical, and yet Geralt wants to anyway. Wants to be selfish in his love, because it is more worth protecting than anything else he's ever had.
"But," he says instead, "you were right before, and I'll swear it. I swear to you I would never leave you of my own choice. I will be with you as long as I am able, and as long as you'll have me."
(They escape the rusalka and the swamp, but their fears follow them. Geralt and Jaskier turn to each other in the aftermath.)

Summary
"You should leave me," Jaskier mumbles. It takes a second for Geralt to parse out the words, and when he does he feels ice chasing the potion through his veins.
"Stop fucking saying that," Geralt says, and maybe he is angry at Jaskier - not for the injury, never that, but for the idea that Geralt would consider leaving him behind. For thinking even for a second that Jaskier lying abandoned on a battlefield to die is a price Geralt could ever pay.
(In the aftermath of their flight from the Redanian camp in episode 4, Geralt reflects on what he has come dangerously close to losing, and truly chooses what he wants to become.) -

Summary
"Hob," Dream says suddenly, and his voice has changed. "Do you remember your parents? Were they... were they kind?"
Oh.
The question is so unexpected that it catches somewhere around his solar plexus like a blow. Hob is struck, suddenly, by twin memories that fit together like discordant notes in a song: a hand running soft and gentle through his hair, and a voice raised in fury.
A cold thread twists and twines its way between his ribs. He cannot help remembering what Lucienne said to him that terrible night when he found out Dream was dead.
Not all parents love their children.
(Dream and Hob settle into their new lives. There is pain that they cannot help but bring with them, but there is also healing, and there is hope.)

Summary
"You came to the edge of Time and Night, at the borders of oblivion, to offer me the chance to undo my death and return to life?"
"Before I answer that question, I want to know if you're about to call me an idiot."
"I cannot swear that I am not," Dream says, with the faintest hint of a smile. "Even for you, Hob, this is dangerous. More than you understand. And yet," he adds before Hob can formulate a defence, "I am. Honoured. You should not have come, but..."
"But you're kind of glad I did, aren't you?"
(Hob Gadling attends the funeral of the King of Dreams. But that isn't where the story ends. It's only where it begins.)

Summary
If he didn't look, he didn't have to know. If he didn't look, it wasn't real.
What a stupid thought. What a childish thought - one that belonged to Hadrian, not Royce, who could never have afforded the luxury of such beliefs. A bad thing didn't cease to be real because you refused to acknowledge it; you were only making it easier for it to destroy you. It was Hadrian who refused to face up to the cruel realities of the world, not Royce.
If Hadrian was dead, Royce's ignorance wouldn't change that. Nothing would.
And yet there he was, hanging from a rock ledge, and he didn't want to look.
Hadrian falls. Royce... copes.
(Missing scene from Drumindor.)

Summary
Obi-Wan leant forwards as though to ensure he had Anakin's attention. Anakin could no more have looked away than developed the ability to survive without oxygen.
"You may have to keep fighting this battle for the rest of your life, but you have also won every single day of your life. Never lose sight of that."
(Anakin and Obi-Wan take the ten year old Luke and Leia to visit a new planet, unexpectedly arriving during celebrations of the new year. The trip goes surprisingly well until it becomes a complete disaster, but Anakin really does have the best kids in the galaxy, and a brother who has never let him down.)

Summary
They're in love, they've retired, and they're surprisingly good at home renovations. But when word reaches Ed and Stede that their old crew is in trouble, there's no choice but for these co-captains to head back to sea, accompanied by a magic seagull and an old first mate apparently too contrary even to stay dead.
The English navy wants to rule the seas, piracy is under threat and Ricky Banes has it in for the crew of the Revenge. It's time for one last fuckery to save their family - but this time might just mean the end of Blackbeard and the Gentleman Pirate.
(A possible season 3, featuring romance that's tender as hell; trauma and the healing thereof; dickheads getting shot, stabbed and conned in the name of love; more seagulls than you'd expect; and the wonderful truth that it's never too late to find a place to belong.)

Summary
"Please don't die," Jaskier says, and he wraps his other hand around Geralt's now, and draws them both up to his own chest. Geralt's hand is too limp, too cold, and the wrongness of it is like a knife between his ribs. "I won't leave you. Please don't leave me."
In Brokilon and the days that follow, Jaskier tries to give Geralt something to live for.

Summary
Someone finds the cabin where Jaskier and Ciri are hiding, but it's not Radovid. It's someone far more dangerous.
With Geralt and Yennefer away at Thanedd, Jaskier must face what he fears most. Only it's even worse than last time, because he's not only afraid for himself.
And he's begun to realise that there is nothing he won't do to keep Ciri safe.

Summary
"Obi-Wan," Anakin breathed, and the dread crystallised into heartbreaking terror.
Of course. He should have known. Maybe he had known, but been too afraid to look it in the eye.
Not the kids, not Padmé, but someone as dear to him as they were. No wonder he'd been so sure his family was in danger.
(The war is over and Palpatine's gone, yet traces of his intended empire still threaten Anakin's family. Anakin will not fall again, but he's prepared to use everything the Light can offer to get his brother home.)

Summary
Look, Jaskier's got a lot going on. He's painfully aware that there are cataclysmic events happening and that the troubled teenager he knows might save the world or speed along the end of days. He's also in love with a man who's never even admitted that they're friends, which is almost as bad.
Oh, and he's still working as the Sandpiper, only now a terrifying eldritch creature has entrusted him with the Song of the Seven to give hope to the elves and help them fight back against their oppression. It's probably the bravest thing he's ever done, but not everyone sees it that way.
Luckily he knows some people who excel at last minute rescues.
... then he just has to figure out how to tell Geralt why so many people are trying to kill him. This is going to go great.

He could taste bile again and cold seeped into his bones.
"I had a vision," Anakin whispered.
"Yes," Obi-Wan said, and his voice was hoarse as if from screaming. "I had it too."
