He had never really let himself think about it. Not when he and Shane had been just them, hidden.
He hadn't allowed himself to think about Shane's wonderful supportive parents who went to every game they could, who followed him around the world, who were bursting with pride for their son. Who would do anything, give up everything, for him to be safe and happy.So what if sometimes he saw them hugging after games and wished he was there with them. So what if he sometimes glanced at the messages Shane sent to them and wanted the easy comradery, the ‘look after yourself’, ‘you played great’, ‘come for dinner soon, we miss you!’ messages lighting up his own phone.
For a long time he didn't even think he'd have Shane. Not to keep anyway. Not forever. So no, he hadn't thought about having a family too.
