This sentence jumped out at me on my current reading of Think Of England, so I wondered: what might have happened if things had gone to plan: if the next day had not been Sunday and if Daniel had not decided to investigate the service corridors that night. In other words, if Archie had left Peakholme to pass on the message to Sir Maurice Vaizey and not spoken to Daniel again.
