The thought was almost disconcertingly pleasing. On the one hand, Mizuki's words, "God, you just reek of ash and metal filings, 'Ruru, take a shower sometimes, damn!" rang in Iruka's ears. "I'm surprised I'm not allergic to you, you stink so badly of leaf mold sometimes." But on the other hand, Kakashi had scented Iruka's wrist and melted into the couch, like it had relaxed him. He had scented Iruka's shoulder, burying his masked nose against Iruka's bare skin. And somewhere, almost drowned out by Iruka's memory of Mizuki's words, were Kakashi's. "God, you smell so good." Iruka knew better than to give credence to the words.... But a tiny part of him couldn't let go of them.
