Summary
Susie and Taranza are practically attached at the hip. Having bonded over their respective grief, they've helped each other out a countless amount of times over the years. They're best friends, and that's a dynamic they're happy with. But when Susie starts to develop feelings for the one person she's ever truly opened up to, that relationship might just be put at risk. After all, it doesn't matter that Taranza is endearing or even that he's kind to her. No matter what happens, one thing will always remain true:

Taranza, too, knows this. He has a soft spot for Susie, but he's also well aware he can't just move on. His heart belongs to Queen Sectonia, and after the fate he doomed her to, the least he feels he can do to make it up to her is condemn himself to solitude.

Summary
Taranza hasn't moved on from Sectonia. That bit is obvious. He still mourns her, he still thinks negatively, he still requires comfort when he cries. It doesn't help that when Kirby offers to have Susie help Floralia for some time, he starts comparing this new acquaintance to his old crush, resulting in an attraction that doesn't feel completely organic or healthy. But, hey, Susie's new machine will totally be the thing to fix all his problems and last mistakes!
...Instead, he ends up learning way more about Susie than he had expected.
