Summary
It was too much, too fast, too soon. PJ was just barely understanding that she didn’t like Brittany so much as she liked the 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢 of Brittany. She didn’t want to do the same thing to Hazel.
Hazel had finally gone back to being her friend. Her quirky, goofy, oddball friend who made bombs for fun and sat in seats with her legs sprawled out like a child playing on the floor.
She went back to being Hazel. And PJ didn’t want anything to jeopardize that.
“Guys, guys, guys—“ Hazel busted through the doors of the gym, scrambling over to the club with so much excitement PJ was a little worried she’d hurt herself. She was grinning like a complete idiot as she dropped her backpack on the ground and did a little jump. “I just got asked out!”
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵.
OR: A few weeks after the football massacre, things are finally back to normal between PJ and Hazel (after PJ avoiding talking about her feelings like the plague and Hazel finally giving up) and she's ready to leave the kiss and her complicated, totally platonic and not at all life-ruining feelings behind her.
That is, until Hazel suddenly gets a girlfriend. A girlfriend who, frankly, in PJ's opinion, is a total 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩.

Summary
“Obviously it’s important to you, or your heart wouldn’t still be racing right now,” she deadpans as she sits down at the foot of their bed. “And you’d be able to actually look at me.”
“Oh, you’re fucking infuriating, Moreau,” they spit.
“Am I?” She asks. “Or do you just fucking hate talking about how you feel to anyone that’s not the mirror?”

it's clear that Marie Moreau is going to be a problem from the first time they meet.
(AKA, Jordan Li has got it bad, with emotional baggage to boot.)

Summary
Beatrice finds herself musing not over duty and sacrifice and God, but the truth of angels, if they can be created rather than summoned. If they can take the form of women with overeager mouths and careless limbs and eyes with a depth that beckons - a crooked finger, a spiral staircase - if they can be both human and not, both beautiful and terrifying.
Ava asks, What do you want, Beatrice?
(Tell me and I’ll give it to you. Tell me and I’ll build you a home there. Tell me and I’ll rearrange the universe to make it all fit, angels and demons be damned. Tell me it’s me. Me. Me.)

Summary
"You make me feel beautiful."
This time it was Ava's turn to smile as she reached up to cup Beatrice's face.
"Oh, I'll show you just how beautiful I think you are."
