Eddie took a deep breath and went for it.
“Is my baby boy okay?” he asked softly. He didn't know what to expect, but he couldn't help but try. He couldn't hold himself back anymore.
Eddie watched as realization slowly hit Buck. He could see the thoughts passing through his head in his wide eyes.
Buck swallowed and started to understand. He looked down at the pacifier in his hands again and then looked up at Eddie. Then he put the paci back on, sucked on it and whispered around it, his voice unsure. “Daddy?”

Summary
After yet another long shift of Buck being shunned, he comes home to a crazed Chase Mackey. Mackey, seeking revenge for Buck dropping his lawsuit and turning down a settlement that would have gained them both millions, irreparably hurt him. Buck is left bereft and hopeless, until Athena steps in and pulled him into her family. Buck has to learn how to move forward with his body and his future permanently changed.

Of course, that was when he still lived in Nebraska. When entertainment meant self-sacrifice of some capacity. Since coming to Pittsburgh (and developing his frontal lobe), he's had arguably fewer moments of stupidity, but this — letting a near stranger lead him into a dark alleyway — has to be up there. On par, at least, with the hog pit.
The stranger, Robby, is handsome. Exactly Dennis's type. On the right end of fifty, bearded, and with eyes the color of Chattanooga Whiskey — the same kind Dennis's father used to favor before his liver decided it preferred failure.
Robby and Jack kidnap Dennis and decide to have fun.
