Astarion's interest in soft, wealthy, foolish Gale of Waterdeep is entirely practical: make Gale want to keep Astarion safe, no matter what Astarion has to trade away to do it. Gale of Waterdeep's needs are far less carnal than Astarion expects. Somehow that only makes it more complicated.
Or: Astarion underestimates Gale's willingness to let Astarion play pretend at being a vampire lord.
(Begins in Act 1 and speedruns through post-game. Mind the tags! There will be chapter-specific tags in the notes. The Cazador mentions are fairly frequent throughout.)

Under normal circumstances, it would feel like an intrusive but simple enough request. From Astarion, it feels – weightier. Painfully intimate.
