He could feel that grounding cold lingering away as he watched the manifestation melt away from his vision. Mark reached out with a weak hand as he let out a shaking gripe.
The last of his effort diminished with that pitiful gesture, hand falling back to the mattress as his eyes fluttered by the second. Heavier and heavier they felt, like the weight of shackles on a prisoner's ankles.
Sleep finally hit him, and the last echoing words he heard enveloped him as he rested after so long.
"Sleep well, Mark."
