Aventurine is not in the habit of allowing himself to want. Wanting is dangerous. Yearning is a vulnerability. Desires are weak points that can be exploited by others and used to take advantage and control. The responsible thing to do is to stamp them out, rid himself of them in such a way that the fantasies and the delusions are no longer appealing.

A few more messages rolled in and Aventurine realized that he must be sick in the head, or rather, he realized he was sicker in the head than he was already aware of, because even though all the messages were berating him for creating a fake account, fans trying to defend his honor, he was delighted at having any type of conversation that wasn’t an interview or being read off a script.
He’d nearly given up, resigning himself to being an old cat man (though his cats were currently nowhere to be found, most likely getting into mischief in his kitchen), when his phone lit up again.

Ever since Penacony, Aventurine has had this nagging feeling that he's fated to be ever in the doctor's debt. Had he even thanked Ratio for his dutiful performance back there? For offering his faith and wisdom where Aventurine was certain they'd be parting ways forever? Had Aventurine succinctly expressed his thanks for the way Ratio had single-handedly offered to oversee his care in the months following?
If Aventurine can even begin to repay that selflessness, he suspects that this mission is an adequate place to start.
