    Summary

I don’t think you’re bad, Wilbur had said.

Tommy will admit — Wilbur almost, almost got him with that one. But Tommy’s smarter than that. Wilbur doesn’t even know him. He has no clue what he’s talking about.

You will, Tommy finally decrees after a harsh swallow, a silent promise only for himself. The only kind of promises he can make in this form. I’ll make sure of it.

Tommy can’t remember the last time he’s shifted, or that he’s trusted someone.

Wilbur might be able to change both of those things — not that Tommy’s going to make it easy.

    Summary

“Uh— Phil?” The man calls over his shoulder, golden eyes never leaving Tommy’s face, “I need your help over here.”

Tommy bares his teeth, wings fluttering threateningly. He doesn’t want the man to get help, he wants him to go away.

Another man steps into view. This one is short and blonde, with wings a hundred times bigger than Tommy’s, and he’s dressed just as nice as the first man. He hasn’t seen Tommy yet; he’s looking at the big pink one. Mouth open like he’s going to speak.

Tommy hisses again, louder this time. And the man's head snaps towards him— which doesn’t scare Tommy. He doesn’t shrink back, doesn’t try to tuck away his wings with a whine. Because he’s big. He’s big and scary; nothing is scarier than him and he knows it, because he says it.

“Oh,” The man says softly, expression falling at his eyes dart across Tommy’s face. “Oh, mate.”

    Summary

Tommy knew he could talk to them about this. That was the problem.

He knew, specifically, that they would be able to help with this. That they would know what to do.

He’s seen the scars on wilbur's arms when he’s washing the dishes. He remembers vividly that point in their life, how phil had helped.

Somehow, this just makes it worse. So much worse.

or; tommy's struggling, whether the people around him realise it or not.

    Summary

    But Steve was fine.

Sure, he hadn’t seen Bucky in months, and sometimes he was at the punching bag so long that his skin started to peel off to expose the bones of his fingers, and sometimes he couldn’t find the energy to drag himself out of bed, and sometimes he went weeks without sleeping, and sometimes he thought about throwing himself head-first off the nearest tall structure, but he was fine.

He was absolutely, perfectly, one-hundred percent, fucking fine.

    AKA
In which Steve learns how to deal with his shit, and Bucky learns how to stop leaving.
