Summary
Reki didn’t pull away, and Langa abruptly realized he hadn’t felt weird earlier – he’d felt pleased. It was the kind of feeling that had to do with success; the relief after giving your all and winning and the subsequent joy that came from being rewarded. He knew it because he felt like his every time Reki’s eyes were on him. It was heady just having his attention, but tonight, he felt cared for.

All of Reki's inhibitions were crumbling day by day, and it was getting difficult to hide it. He was a jealous person and he desperately had been working on that part of himself after their fight. He just never expected for it to backfire so spectacularly; Langa was still on a pedestal but “Top-Class Skater” had been traded for “Crush”, and his jealous streak showed in how he was monopolizing Langa.

“What are you humming?” murmured Leona, no longer a pissed off cat trying to lick its wounds in private. He probably never had privacy before coming to NRC. He was still probably pissed though, but he probably felt like he couldn’t show any negative thoughts or feelings directed towards Ruggie in some stupid penance. Probably.
(Leona didn’t do “penance” like a normal person, though. He had guilt but his pride was so much bigger, and Ruggie respected that. This? This was weird.)
“Hm? It’s a nursery rhyme. Don’t know what it’s called, just heard it from my grandma. Would you like me to sing you a lullaby, or perhaps serenade you, your highness?” snickered Ruggie.
He wasn’t responded to with a usual “Shut up.” Leona actually peaked two beady eyes above the horizon of his cocoon, hair a matted mess and ears twitching irritably. He stared. Ruggie swayed his hips while cleaning in a mock show.
“Do what you want.”
That was a fucked up olive branch if he’d ever been given one (he had, and specifically a bunch from this person already).

fantastic characterization, the dialogue and the way they interact is soooooo good + the fleshing out of their backstory/how they proceed to be partners is awesome.
read up t ch5, will revisit once finished or more chapters bc I left on a good note and my heart wont be able to take a cliffhanger wait
