“Eyes on the prize, sweetheart,” Sawyer’s voice still rang from when he’d dropped her off at the address they’d been pretending was hers. And indeed they had been. The gallery walls had millions of dollars' worth of art hanging on them, from Renaissance to Modern art. She couldn’t even pronounce half of those names, even if Boone, their forgery expert, had thoroughly explained the value of each piece and had made all of them memorize the art they were responsible for taking when the time came.

The first thing Lucy Chen sees when she opens her eyes is the police badge...The second thing that catches Lucy’s eye are his hands, which, once he brings them back together, are clasped so tightly that his knuckles press white through sun-tanned skin. His hands are broad, and he is sitting close enough that she can see small scars crisscrossing the backs of them here and there, close enough that she can see the way the light catches the light hair on his muscular forearms, propped against his knees. The light catches the hair on his head, too, which seems dirty blonde, maybe light brown if not in this lighting, but he is, and so his head is haloed in gold. The overall effect is one of gilding; he looks like he is made of something precious... Whoever this man is, it seems he has been waiting here a while. Waiting on her. With a badge.

Lucy get amnesia after an assault during a manhunt. She doesn't remember anything that's happened in the past five years...including joining the LAPD and meeting Tim. He remembers everything.
