Max was in love with Carlos. There was no denying that. Actually, he had been since their Toro Rosso days. Their fallout was the worst pain ever and he tried to forget the stupid crush but could never get over it. When Carlos disappears after the news from Lewis getting his seat in 2025 break, the last thing a panicked Max had been expecting was to see him shivering on his doorstep, but it brought him everything he ever wanted.

It starts out as a joke.

It was supposed to be a PR thing. Nothing more, nothing less. "It'll help build your character," McLaren's marketing department had said. "And people like your dry humour, so let's make it work for us, yeah?"
So Oscar had shrugged, hit tweet, and went about his day. Just a joke, he'd thought. A joke for character building. Even if it went off the rails and blew up more than anticipated, it was still:
Just a joke.
But now, as Carlos tightens his grasp on Oscar's wrist, pressing his back flush against the wall, breath hot and accusatory gaze piercing right through him, Oscar desperately tries to remember when it stopped being one.
